Real Science Teaching. Real Classroom Experience.

I’m Amy Brown, a veteran high school biology and chemistry teacher, wife, and mom who understands the daily reality of lesson planning, grading, meetings, and everything in between. I know what it feels like to have too much to do and not enough time to do it.

After decades in the classroom, I’ve created rigorous, classroom-tested biology and chemistry resources that save you planning time while still delivering strong, meaningful science instruction. Every lab, activity, and lesson is designed to move students beyond memorization and into real scientific thinking.

If you want your students excited about science and thinking deeply without spending your entire weekend planning, you’re in the right place.

Science Graphic Organizers for Reading, Writing, and Lab Analysis

Students often struggle to pull important information from science text. Whether they are reading a textbook, analyzing an article, or writing a lab report, many students are unsure where to begin.

One of the most effective tools I have used in my classroom is the graphic organizer. Graphic organizers help students slow down, organize their thinking, and focus on the most important ideas in a passage or activity.

These organizers give students a clear place to start and help guide them through the process of analyzing scientific information. They are especially helpful for informational text, lab analysis, and evidence-based writing.

Why Graphic Organizers Work in Science Class

Science reading is different from other types of reading. Students must often identify key ideas, interpret data, analyze evidence, and explain conclusions.

Graphic organizers help students practice these skills by providing structure and guiding questions.

When students use graphic organizers, they can learn how to:

  • identify the main idea in a passage
  • analyze claims and supporting evidence
  • summarize important information
  • compare and contrast scientific ideas
  • organize data and observations
  • explain scientific reasoning

Instead of staring at a blank page and feeling overwhelmed, students have a framework that helps them focus on the most important parts of the reading or investigation.

Graphic Organizers for Science Reading and Writing

Graphic organizers can be used with many different types of science activities, including:

  • reading informational text
  • analyzing scientific claims
  • organizing vocabulary
  • summarizing lab results
  • comparing scientific ideas
  • planning investigations
  • organizing data tables and graphs

Because each organizer focuses on a specific skill, students learn how to break complex information into manageable parts.

Over time, students become more confident readers and writers in science.

If you are looking for classroom tools that help students analyze science text, organize information, and explain their thinking, you can take a closer look at my Science Graphic Organizers resource here.

Digital Option for Google Slides™

Many teachers now use digital assignments in their classrooms. These graphic organizers include Google Slides versions, making them easy to assign in digital learning environments.

Students can type directly into the organizers, allowing them to complete the activities online or through a learning management system.

This makes the organizers useful in traditional classrooms, 1:1 device classrooms, blended learning environments, and distance learning settings.

Flexible Printing Options

Teachers can also choose how they want to print the organizers for classroom use. The organizers can be printed in full color for classroom sets, or in black and white to save ink.

Both versions are clear and easy for students to use.

Science Graphic Organizers for Your Classroom
