Search My Blog .... What are you waiting for?

  • Not enough textbooks.
  • Inadequate teaching resources.
  • Canned science programs.
  • Insufficient lab supplies.
  • Poor quality supplementals.
These were my frustrations 28 years ago when I first began my career as a high school biology and chemistry teacher.  Thankfully, my husband was a first year teacher as well, and we did not yet have children.  We literally spent every waking moment either in the classroom teaching, or preparing the materials we would need for the next day.  I look back on those early years and think, "How in the world did I survive?"

This week on, two very exciting things occurred.  The most exciting to me is that we surpassed 30,000 FREE (yes, I said FREE)  downloads.  I have trouble even wrapping my mind around this.  There are over 30,000 lessons that you can download and use in your classroom, and the number of freebies increases every few minutes.  These free materials are for all ages and for all subject areas.  Simply go to, and click on the big button that says FREE.  Oh, how I wish this had been available to me 28 years ago!!  (The first year I taught, I had to type up my lessons on a manual typewriter!!  I bet many of you reading this have never seen a manual typewriter!!  YIKES!)

Why not give this a try right now?  One of my most popular free items is "Scientific Method PowerPoint with Notes for Teacher and Student."  Clicking on the link will take you directly to TpT and in one click you can download this product to your computer.  Now you have a wonderful teaching lesson - a PowerPoint and Notes - you can use on the first day of school next Fall.

At the beginning of this blog post, I mentioned that I was excited about two things.  The second thing I am excited about is...... Now TpT is accepting school purchase orders as a method of payment.  My school is almost always willing to purchase the materials I need for my classroom, but the items have to be purchased from a vendor that will accept a school purchase order.  If I buy something myself, using my own credit card, I cannot get reimbursed for this.  I am so excited that now materials can be purchased from TpT using a school purchase order.  Simply choose this option at checkout.

I am looking forward to spending my summer developing new materials for my students and passing them on to you in my TpT store, Science Stuff.  Thank you so much for your support during this school year.  I hope you had a great school year!!

And by the way......  In the time it took me to write and post this blog article, 36 new free items were added to !!

Have a great summer!

  1. You're awesome, Amy, and right on the money! Those of us who go out of our way to share resources with our colleagues are making a big difference in education! I too remember my first year and working to 11 p.m. or later every night, trying to plan and create materials to keep my students engaged. While I still put in a lot of time & effort, I do benefit from the generosity & creativity of a variety of other wonderful teachers too.
